REVOLT #0: The Crowning Results
Revolt 0 - The Crowning
*RESULTS REPORT
The inaugural show for REVOLT started with a bang, as owner Cameron Crowley took to the ring; emptying the locker room and wowing the crowd with the stunning presentation of the REVOLT World Championship Title. Adding further excitement, he laid out the participants for the first round of the tournament to crown the first ever REVOLT champion. Manning the announce booth for the show, we had the charismatic and infectious Will-E, part time manager and full time entertainer. Joining him, we had a special surprise visit from the man, the legend, the paterfamilias himself, Geoff Castro calling the action. Supplementing the announce team, we had The Alternative Josh Archer, who visibly recovering from a shoulder injury, seemed to be there just to complain about not being in the tournament.
ROUND 1
First Match - Christian Irons VS Mr. Wright
There was barely a moment for the crowd to collect their wits before the first notes of Christian Irons hard and heavy theme blared from the speakers. Making his way to the the ring, he was all business. Irons, discovered and under the tutelage of The Alternative Josh Archer is a newcomer to REVOLT and fresh from The Chopshop; REVOLTs training school. The speakers ring out again, and The King of American Strong Style, The World Famous Mr. Wright makes his way to the ring. Clad in his familiar Evil Doer shirt, Mr. Wright is also a new comer to Revolt; but an international star and veteran of the business in his own right. Mr. Wright pulled no punches, and quickly established himself as the villain, spewing insults and abuse when the fans didn't cheer him quick enough to his liking. Irons on the other hand, stood in stony silence awaiting the bell. The match began quickly, Wright taking the quick advantage, showing his in ring knowledge, locking up Irons and slowing down any momentum that the powerhouse could gain. Irons fought back again and again, almost getting the best of Wright before a shattering sequence led up to The RAM Knee; which cleared the way, allowing Mr. Wright to lock in his patented submission, The Wright Privilege. Irons, to his credit, fought the move with almost inhuman effort, and refused to tap, facing unconsciousness rather than submit. After ascertaining that Irons couldn't continue, the referee had to bodily break the hold, as Mr. Wright showed his true colors and refused to break the hold on the prone Christian Irons. After debasing the referee for not raising his hand quick enough, Mr Wright had a few taunting words for The Alternative Josh Archer, who took it upon himself to interview the winners of the matches.
*Mr. Wright proceeds to Round 2
Second Match - Big Mark Canyon VS Kid Icarus
With a heavy squeal and chug of a guitar, Big Mark Canyon made his entrance. Clad in camo and leather, 384 pounds of bad intention walked slowly and methodically to the ring; glaring at the crowd from behind a skull facemask. Mark Canyon is a REVOLT veteran, using the tournament as a fresh start to distance himself from the shadow of his brother, The Lucha Thug, Al-X-Treme. As a rousing fast beat pounded from the speakers, REVOLT newcomer Kid Icarus made an explosive entrance; slapping hands and quickly winning over the audience with his positivity. The match started suddenly, the underdog Icarus using his speed and agility against the far larger Canyon, keeping the big man on his toes and trailing for a good portion of the match. After a ill planned high risk reversal, Mark Canyon finally caught up with the plucky Icarus, much to the crowds disappointment. The match could have ended a few times, but Canyons' lust for violence and overconfidence got the better of him; as he broke his own pins, again and again to inflict more punishment on the beleaguered Kid. The action spilled to ringside, where Canyon, trying to take things too far, set up Icarus to possibly injure the underdog with a boot against the ring-pole. The move backfired, as Icarus moved and locked the hung up Canyon around the post, holding him there until the long count of nine, then scrambling into the ring on the brink of ten, snatching the match away by count out; showing that size doesn't always matter. His and the crowds celebration was short lived though, as he had to quickly head to the back as Mark Canyon stormed the ring, seeing red. After a short but intense argument with the referee, Canyon left, unsatisfied
*Kid Icarus proceeds to Round 2
Third Match - Al-X-Treme VS 'The Mad DJ' Heavy J
The horns hit and the crowd immediately started cheering, knowing that the veteran Al-X-Treme was making his entrance. Coming out, the fan favorite was all smiles and handshakes, greeting his fans to the accolades of his manager Will-E on the mic. With a heavy pulsing beat, Heavy J made his entrance, eyes locked on Xtreme. Another veteran, Heavy J and Xtreme had battled before, and it looks like Heavy J had a score to settle. Ever the consummate professional, Xtreme offered a hand and the match started with a lockup, each man jockeying for the advantage. It was a hard hitting match, flowing both ways, till Xtreme, with the crowd behind him, started to gain the advantage. Heavy j, seeing his advancement potentially slipping away, reverted back to old habits; grabbing a turntable from ringside. The ref thankfully caught it and a struggle ensued, with Xtreme taking his shot, and the turntable smacking into Heavy J. Alex covered for the 1-2-3 and the crowd went wild.
*Al-X-Treme proceeds to Round 2
Fourth Match - El Gringo VS Hank Godwinn
The sultry strains of a spanish guitar rang out into the night, and The OG El Gringo burst from the entrance-way to a rather stilted reaction. Returning fans knew the kind of man El Gringo was, and were leery to get behind him. Much the polar opposite, fiddles blared from the speakers and the crowd went crazy as the hometown hero, Hank Godwinn peeked from the entrance-way, broad smile on his face. Glad-handing his fans all the way to the ring, Hank and Gringo squared off. Hank, loving his fans as much as they loved him, gladly obliged, climbing the ropes and showing love. Gringo seemed offended, and tried the same. He didn't seem to notice though, that the match had started. Hank pressed his advantage, and as El gringo turned around, he was blasted by a running boot, and then quickly planted headfirst in the middle of the ring with a patented tombstone pile-driver. Then came the inevitable 1-2-3 and a smiling Hank helped a confused El Gringo to his feet, assuring him that his loss was just bad luck.
*Hank Godwinn proceeds to Round 2
ROUND 2
First Match - Kid Icarus VS Mr. Wright
As round 2 began, his music hit and Kid Icarus ran to the ring, still flying high on his victory over Big Mark Canyon. His smile faltered though, when Mr. Wrights' music played. Mr. Wright showed his viscous streak, eschewing any wrestling and slapping the underdog into a painful rear naked choke, looking to harm the rookie. The kid fought back though, and the two traded a flurry of moves and chain wrestling that was almost too fast to follow. Showing his veteran skill, Mr. Wright slowed down the match by ducking out of the ring and sitting in the crowd, recovering his breathe and pushing the refs count; baiting Icarus to follow him out. After beating him into the ring, Icarus looked to take the advantage with another of his high risk maneuvers, but the nefarious Wright caught him, and gave him a devastating heart stomp for his troubles. Fighting against insurmountable odds, it was only a matter of time before Mr. Wright locked The Kid into the Wright Privilege and won via tap out.
*Mr. Wright proceeds to The Crowning
Second Match - Al-X-Treme VS Hank Godwinn
As the announcers ramped up to announce the match's combatants, they were surprised to see El Gringo come out and make his way to the audience, stating he just wants to cheer the match. The crowd looked dubious at his intentions. The match started with the two fan favorites shaking hands, showing respect where respect was due. After the bell, the two locked up, and the gargantuan Hank tossed Xtreme to the corner with a massive display of power. Xtreme got up clapping, showing his appreciation of Hanks strength. The two circled and went to lock again, and Xtreme ducked, spinning behind Hank and drilling a stiff kick to the back of his knee. Hank got up laughing, acknowledging Xtremes speed. The match restarted in earnest, with another big lock up. Hank bulled Xtreme into the corner and whipped him to the opposite hard, catching him on the stumble out with a massive cross-elbow. Xtreme took hit hard, and Hank, being a clean competitor, had the ref check on the prone Xtreme. El Gringo took this as a chance to heckle Hank from the crowd. Hank leaned out of the ring to address the situation and the cowardly Gringo blasted him twice with a steel chair, dropping Hank to the mat. Xtreme, up at this point, confused at why Hank was out, didn't waste the opportunity and pinned Hank for the 1-2-3. After helping Hank to his feet, he explained he had nothing to do with it, and Godwinn chased El Gringo into the desert.
* Al-X-Treme proceeds to The Crowning
During the intermission, a panicked El Gringo came to the ring, and wouldn't leave. Geoff Castro came in with a mic to try and see what was going on. It seemed that Hank was still chasing El Gringo, and he was demanding help from the owner Cameron Crowley. Hank Finally caught up with Gringo, but didn't get a chance to make good on his threats, as demands didn't seem to sit well with Mr. Castro, and he hit El Gringo a massive stunner. The crowd was very pleased.
CROWD CONTROL BATTLE ROYAL
*To determine the number one contender for the REVOLT Championship
Hank Godwinn VS Big Mark Canyon VS Kid Icarus VS Christian Irons VS Tyreal
A REVOLT original match, the Crowd Control Battle Royal is a unique thing. All the competitors start outside the ring and each has a secret number. The announcers pick an audience member to choose a number, and the correlating wrestler gets into the ring. The Alternative Josh Archer, who decided we would do something other than complain, deigned to pass the numbers out to the crowd. The first number was called, but no wrestler had the matching number; Archer laughingly explained that it must have been El Gringos number and the match moved on. The second and third numbers picked were Big Mark Canyon and Kid Icarus. Hungry to get revenge on The Kid, Canyon quickly took the advantage and began beating Icarus. Third into the match, Christian Irons quickly turned the tables on Canyon and The Kid both, laying to everyone asserting his dominance. Hanks number was pulled and he waded into the fray, bludgeoning anyone within a six-foot radius. The last number called, the explosive Tyreal, another graduate of REVOLTS ChopShop, burst into the match and took the fight straight to Hank Godwinn. The action was everywhere, almost overwhelming. After a tense showdown, Mark Canyon and Hank mixed it up, resulting in Canyon being eliminated. Hank grabbed The Kid and delivered a devastating sit-out power bomb that shook the ring, only to be caught in a choke by Irons. Irons took to the top rope, leading to his downfall and elimination by Hank. Godwinn was caught off guard by Kid Icarus and Tyreal, who managed to lift him; with an assist by Irons, on to the top rope and to a near elimination. Hank struggled out and took advantage of the close quarters; quickly tossing Icarus and then Tyreal over the top; Eliminating them both. As Hank celebrated, The Alternative entered the ring with a mic to congratulate Godwinn; asking him how he felt about the match so far. After a short back and forth, Archer told Hank to take a bow, and as Hank turned his back, he slipped off the shoulder sling he had been wearing the whole night, and revealed the first number that had been called in the match. Hank climbed the ropes in celebration, and The Alternative rushed him, throwing a forearm and knocking him over the top rope to the outside, eliminated. The Bell rang, The Alternative Josh Archer winning the crowd control battle royal. The Alternative left, not returning to the announce position.
* The Alternative Josh Archer is the number one contender to the REVOLT championship, in a match of his choosing.
MAIN EVENT THE CROWNING
Mr. Wright VS Al-X-Treme Owner Cameron Crowley entered to announce this main event, brandishing the REVOLT title. Both men made their entrance, the exertion of the nights tournament showing on the faces and bodies. Mr. Wright, again showing that he is truly an evil doer, attacked the unsuspecting Xtreme with a chair before the bell had even got to ring, giving him a major advantage The referee restored order and Xtreme demanded that the match go on. It started hard, stiff forearms and stiffer moves, the two wrestlers doing their best to topple the other. It was an epic fight, almost too even to call, with the announcers themselves having trouble keeping up with the action. Close calls and ten counts, it had the crowd and the locker room on the edge of their seats. At one point it boiled to the outside, and Mr. Wright was hit with a clothesline that left him staggered. It would prove to be his downfall, though after a valiant struggle; Xtreme pushed just hard enough, hitting Mr. Wright with a Gangstas Paradise, and narrowly getting the 1-2-3 to become REVOLTs first ever Champion. Cameron Crowley hit the ring and presented Xtreme with the title, and the crowd erupted into cheers, only to be cut short; interrupted by The Alternatives' music. Josh Archer immediately began shouting abuse at the new champion, and it quickly devolved into a brawl. Fighting to restore order, Owner Crowley emptied the locker room, separating the two men into opposite corners. After cooling down, Archer left the ring, but turned and launched a cup of beer into Xtremes face, adding even more insult to ruining Xtremes victory celebration.
Stay tuned for more REVOLT action!
